How to set WhatsApp up
Prepare a number
You need a phone number that is not already in use in the regular WhatsApp app. A new one, or a company number you have not used yet, works best.
Create your 360dialog access
WhatsApp allows automated replies only through providers approved by Meta. You create your own account there; a guided flow from Meta connects your number.
Swap key and address
You enter the API key from your 360dialog account with us, and our webhook address with them. Two copy-and-paste steps, no coding.
Meta reviews
Meta looks over your company details. That takes anywhere from a few minutes to two working days. After that your assistant handles WhatsApp exactly as it handles your website.
To be straight with you
WhatsApp is the only part of Smartwebchat that incurs costs elsewhere. Nothing extra comes from us — the channel belongs to every paid plan. But: access at 360dialog currently costs around €49/month and is paid directly to them, and Meta charges for individual messages. For the most common case — someone writes to you and your assistant replies within 24 hours — that is currently free in most cases; if you actively send messages yourself, that costs a few cents depending on the country. Neither price is set by us; 360dialog and Meta show what applies right now. For medical professions we block WhatsApp automatically — Art. 9 GDPR and Meta's far-reaching rights to process data on its own account make compliant use with health data effectively impossible.
